The book of Hosea is a love story. It is the story of God's love for his people, Israel, but it is written from God's perspective. It shows us the yearning heart of a God who longs for a reciprocal love from those he loves. To illustrate this love, we are given a graphic picture: God tells Hosea to take a wife, her name is Gomer and she is a prostitute. This might come as a shock to us and we might wonder why God would do that.
